Plan 01
1 day in Jabalpur
- 01
Day 1: Marble Rocks and falls
Leave early for Bhedaghat and spend the morning at the Marble Rocks: either walk the short paved path along the gorge or take a row boat from the ghat for a 45-minute ride through the marble formations (hire from the official stand; boats are safer and more comfortable than in many parts of India). Stop at Chausath Yogini Temple, which sits above the rocks, then drive a few km upstream to see Dhuandhar Falls, where the Narmada drops over a ledge. Lunch back in the city and, if energy allows, visit Madan Mahal Fort in the late afternoon for the sunset view over the city, or Rangawati Museum if you prefer staying level. End with an evening walk along the Narmada ghats near the old city.

Plan 02
2 days in Jabalpur
- 01
Day 1: The marble gorge and Dhuandhar
Start at Bhedaghat early. Spend 2–3 hours exploring the Marble Rocks—walk the shore path, take a boat ride, or both depending on mobility. Visit Chausath Yogini Temple at the top of the gorge for the view and the 64-yogini relief carvings. Drive to Dhuandhar Falls and spend time watching the water (the power varies with the season; post-monsoon is most dramatic). Return to the city by mid-afternoon, rest, then visit Madan Mahal Fort for sunset and a walk around the ramparts, or stay in the old city and visit temples and ghats.
- 02
Day 2: Museums and nature
Spend the morning at Rangawati Museum, which has sculptures, ceramics and Rani Durgavati artifacts in a cool, level setting. Visit Hanumantal Bada Jain Mandir, one of India's largest Jain temples, with its fortress-like shikharas and 22 shrines (note the marble floors can be very hot in the afternoon; wear socks or light shoes). After lunch, head to Dumna Nature Reserve for a quiet walk or jeep ride, or drive to Kachnar City to see the 23-metre Shiva statue if you want something more iconic. If you have interest in spirituality, Osho Ashram at Osho Amritdham is a peaceful afternoon option.

Plan 03
3 days in Jabalpur
- 01
Day 1: Marble Rocks full day
Dedicate the entire morning and early afternoon to Bhedaghat. Arrive early, walk one of the gorge paths, take a boat ride through the rocks, and visit Chausath Yogini Temple. Spend time at the upper viewpoints looking down at the marble formations and the river. Visit Dhuandhar Falls on the way back. In the late afternoon, rest at your hotel or take a very short visit to a nearby ghat for the sunset light on the river.
- 02
Day 2: Forts, temples and museums
Visit Madan Mahal Fort in the morning and climb to the inner ramparts for views (or stay at the vehicle viewpoint if stairs are a concern). Return to the city and visit Rangawati Museum for the Durgavati artifacts and cool galleries. Lunch and rest. In the late afternoon, visit Hanumantal Bada Jain Mandir, which is architecturally striking and less crowded in the evening. End with a walk through the old city lanes or along a ghat.
- 03
Day 3: A national park day trip
Choose either Pench National Park (roughly 1.5 hours away), Kanha National Park (roughly 3.5 hours away, but India's most reliable for tigers) or Bandhavgarh National Park (roughly 2 hours away, known for leopards and hilltop fort ruins). Book a jeep safari the evening before. Leave very early for the morning safari, which gives the best chance to see wildlife. Return to Jabalpur by mid-afternoon, or stay overnight near the park if energy and time allow. If a national park feels too ambitious, visit Dumna Nature Reserve or Osho Ashram instead.

Pacing
Make the plan work for everyone
- Hire a car and driver for the whole day rather than using app cabs or autos. It gives you a cool place to rest and lets you set the pace.
- Visit Madan Mahal Fort early and stay at the vehicle viewpoint rather than climbing all the stairs inside. The view is excellent from there.
- Boat rides at Marble Rocks are well-organised and safer than many places in India; rowboats are slower and more comfortable than motorboats. Negotiate the price beforehand.
- Temple marble floors can be scorching in the afternoon. Wear socks or light shoes and visit temples in the morning or after 4 pm.
- Dhuandhar Falls are best visited right after the monsoon (October) when water flow is high. In summer the flow is minimal.
- Always have water, a hat and sunscreen. Jabalpur's sun is fierce, and shade is sparse at the gorge.
