How to experience it
Ask your driver to head towards the Mahadeo Falls road south-east of the town. A small car park marks the start of the walking path. From there, a shaded trail slopes gently downhill through sal forest for about 10 minutes, with the sound of rushing water growing louder as you approach.
The fall emerges suddenly. The cliff face is dark rock, nearly vertical, and the water pitches from the top in a white column, splitting slightly mid-fall before crashing into a pool below. The spray rises visibly on humid days. The roar is louder than it sounds from the car park.
There is a viewing platform at the forest edge; stand there or find a nearby rock to sit and watch. The power of the water and the forest canopy create a theatrical effect, especially when storm clouds gather overhead. The pool below is inaccessible from this viewpoint, so do not venture further. Take photos from the main platform, and then walk back the way you came.
