In the late afternoon, take a boat ride on the Krishna river or visit the Prakasham Barrage, then walk through the bazaar as the light cools. End the day with chai and snacks at a local café.

Pacing
Make the plan work for everyone
- Heat is the main planning constraint: April to June is genuinely uncomfortable for outdoor sightseeing. Plan temples, caves and forts for the morning, rest indoors through the early afternoon, and save museums or hotel time for the hottest hours.
- You need a car for almost everything: Vijayawada's sights are spread across the city and beyond it. Hire a car and driver for the day rather than relying on walking or app cabs alone, especially for Kondapalli, Undavalli and Amaravati.
- Temple visits mean queues, not just steps: At Kanaka Durga Temple, the bigger challenge is often standing in a slow-moving line rather than the climb itself. A paid special-entry ticket is worth it if queuing for long periods is difficult.
- Dress modestly for temples: Cover shoulders and knees when visiting Kanaka Durga Temple and other shrines. Footwear must be removed before the inner sanctum, so easy slip-on shoes make the process faster.
- Carry cash for smaller stops: Village workshops in Kondapalli, roadside stalls and some smaller counters may not take cards. Keep a modest amount of small-denomination cash on hand.
- Photography is restricted in some places: Phones and cameras are usually not allowed near temple sanctums, and some archaeological sites limit tripod or drone use. Check at the entrance rather than assuming.
