Day by day

  1. Day 1 — Arrive, Masala Chowk and a first bazaar evening

Transfer from the airport or station to a hotel near MI Road or the old city, then rest through the afternoon. Around 5 pm, head to Masala Chowk near Ram Niwas Garden, an open-air food court that brings many of Jaipur's well-known street-food stalls into one place with seating — a gentle introduction for families and older travellers who prefer not to eat standing on a busy pavement. Then take a short cab ride to Bapu Bazaar for an easy first browse of mojris, textiles and souvenirs. Keep the shopping short tonight; the bigger bazaar day is tomorrow.

  2. Day 2 — Kachori breakfast, block prints and Johari Bazaar

Start with pyaaz kachori at Rawat Misthan Bhandar near Sindhi Camp — go by mid-morning, as it gets crowded and the best batches go early. Then drive to Amer for the Anokhi Museum of Hand Printing, set in a restored haveli, where you can watch block printing up close; check the day it is closed before you go. Return to the city for lunch and a long rest. In the evening, walk Johari Bazaar for jewellery, lac bangles and textiles, finishing with dinner or sweets at Laxmi Misthan Bhandar. Keep one person in charge of purchases and receipts — it saves confusion later.

  3. Day 3 — Final tastes, gift shopping and departure

A late breakfast, then a final round of shopping based on what you liked yesterday — Jaipur shopkeepers will usually pack fragile items or bulky textiles for travel if you ask. Pick up boxed sweets for home; ask about shelf life, since milk-based sweets keep only briefly. Early lunch near the hotel and a comfortable-buffer transfer to the airport or station.

Senior and family comfort notes

  • Masala Chowk offers seated street food, easier than roadside stalls
  • Bazaar walks are capped at about 90 minutes with the cab parked nearby
  • Rich, fried food is balanced with lighter hotel meals; ask stalls about spice levels
  • Old-city lanes are uneven and busy, so evening walks stay on main bazaar stretches
