- Carry any prescribed medicines in their original containers and keep them in your room, not in the houseboat's common areas. The boat operates on fixed meal times, so plan around them.
- Doctors and pharmacies are in Alappuzha town, a boat ride away. For serious medical needs, Kochi hospitals are 1.5–2 hours away by road. Travel with health insurance that covers Kerala.
- Ask the airline or railway for wheelchair or porter assistance when you book, not on the day.
