Auto-rickshaws and taxis cover the town; a hired car and driver is easiest for day trips to nearby forts and villages.
For parents and senior travellers
Easy transfers to and in Alibaug
- Stay near the beach or bazaar to avoid long auto rides. Distances in Alibaug are short, but taxis can be sporadic.
- Nearby forts (Murud-Janjira, Raigad) involve longer car rides and boat trips. Pick one, not both, in a single day. A guide at each fort helps with stories but adds cost.
- Ask the airline or railway for wheelchair or porter assistance when you book, not on the day.
- Pre-book the pickup from the airport or station, so nobody has to negotiate with drivers after a long journey.
- Choose arrivals in daylight where you can, and keep the first afternoon free to rest.
