How to experience it
Come early, before 7 am if possible. Climb or take the bus to the temple at the top of the hill. The main sanctum allows darshan (viewing the deity) from a distance. Many pilgrims offer flowers or money. After the darshan, collect your prasad (blessed offering) from the distribution counter and eat it. Walk the outer circumambulatory path if you have energy, and take photographs if permitted (rules are strictly enforced).
Come back to the town to eat and rest, then return for an evening aarti (prayer ceremony) if you wish. Many visitors stay a night to do things more leisurely.
