Easy transfers to and in Chittorgarh

  • The Chittor Fort is physically demanding. It involves continuous walking over uneven, centuries-old stone steps for 6–8 hours. Not recommended for those with mobility issues, weak knees, poor balance or heat intolerance. If you do visit, hire a car to pick you up at various points inside the fort to break the walk into manageable sections.
  • Start very early (6–7 am) and exit by 4–5 pm to avoid the hottest hours. Heat exhaustion is a real risk. Carry ample water (3+ litres per person), a hat, sunscreen and socks for temple floors.
  • If you have any heart or breathing conditions, consult a doctor before attempting the fort. The 700-acre site and long walk at altitude can stress the cardiovascular system.
  • Ask the airline or railway for wheelchair or porter assistance when you book, not on the day.
  • Pre-book the pickup from the airport or station, so nobody has to negotiate with drivers after a long journey.
  • Choose arrivals in daylight where you can, and keep the first afternoon free to rest.
