Easy transfers to and in Dalhousie
- Accept that Dalhousie has stairs everywhere—the town is built on ridges. Choose a hotel with good car access and an elevator, and plan to rest midday.
- The old cantonment streets are steep and uneven; wear proper shoes and carry a walking stick if helpful.
- Winter can be cold (frost at night, possible snow). Carry layers and warm clothes, even if the day seems mild.
- The nearest larger hospital is in Kangra or Chamba, a drive away. Ask your hotel for the location of a local clinic or doctor before you start sightseeing.
- A private car and driver for the whole stay removes a lot of stress. The town roads are narrow and steep.
- Ask the airline or railway for wheelchair or porter assistance when you book, not on the day.
