Walk slowly through the passages and look up: every arch, ceiling and pillar is painted with scenes and motifs representing the different regions, crafts and forts of Rajasthan, in the style of traditional wall painting.
The gate faces the large circular Jawahar Circle garden, one of the city's popular walking spots. Evenings there bring local families, joggers and, on some days, a musical fountain. It is a pleasant way to see modern Jaipur relaxing, very different in mood from the old city.
Because it is close to the airport, Patrika Gate works well on arrival or departure day, when you have a gap and do not want to go into the traffic of the walled city. It is also on the way to Chokhi Dhani and Sanganer.
