If you are based at a lodge in Phato and doing safaris, the drive to Jhirna gate is roughly 45 minutes to an hour, depending on traffic. This makes it less convenient than staying closer to the park gates but more convenient than staying in Almora. Walk around the hamlet to relax between drives; there are no formal sights.
