Easy transfers to and in Hampi
- Many temple staircases are steep and dark. Wear non-slip shoes, carry a torch or phone light, and take frequent rest stops. Some temples have side or back routes that avoid the worst stairs—ask locals or your guide.
- The landscape is studded with boulders and uneven ground. Avoid wandering alone; stick to main pathways or use a guide. Carry a walking stick if needed.
- Base yourself in Hospet if you prefer comfort and hospitals nearby, and hire a car and driver for the day to visit Hampi sites. This removes the strain of managing transport and navigation.
- The town has basic medical facilities; the main hospital is in Hospet. Carry common medications (painkillers, antacids, electrolyte salts) and know where the nearest pharmacy is.
- Ask the airline or railway for wheelchair or porter assistance when you book, not on the day.
- Pre-book the pickup from the airport or station, so nobody has to negotiate with drivers after a long journey.
- Choose arrivals in daylight where you can, and keep the first afternoon free to rest.
