- A private car and driver is almost essential. The Pachmarhi plateau is spread out, sights are several kilometres apart, and few taxis are available. Auto-rickshaws exist but are limited and less reliable. Internal roads are steep, narrow and winding in places.

For parents and senior travellers
Easy transfers to and in Pachmarhi
- Hire a car and driver for the full stay. Road curves are steep and narrow; walking to most sights from a car park is far safer than relying on public transport.
- Dhupgarh sunrise is rewarding but involves an early start and a short steep walk from the car park. If mobility is a concern, wait for daylight and go at a slower pace, or skip it in favour of viewpoints accessible by car.
- The plateau is cool, but afternoon sun can still be strong. Carry sunscreen, a wide-brimmed hat and water. Dehydration at altitude is easy to miss.
- Ask the airline or railway for wheelchair or porter assistance when you book, not on the day.
- Pre-book the pickup from the airport or station, so nobody has to negotiate with drivers after a long journey.
- Choose arrivals in daylight where you can, and keep the first afternoon free to rest.
