Easy transfers to and in Shirdi
- Stay near the railway station or in a quieter ashram rather than immediately next to the crowded mandir bazaar. A 10-minute auto ride is worth the peace and space.
- Bring a small cushion or thick scarf to sit on in the courtyard; the floor can be hard and sometimes wet from flower offerings and water. Wear comfortable shoes that are easy to remove (there is a shoe stand at the mandir).
- Carry water, a hat or umbrella, and any necessary medications. The bazaar shops are small and may not have what you need. The nearest hospital is several kilometres away; note the location before you start.
- Ask the airline or railway for wheelchair or porter assistance when you book, not on the day.
- Pre-book the pickup from the airport or station, so nobody has to negotiate with drivers after a long journey.
- Choose arrivals in daylight where you can, and keep the first afternoon free to rest.
