For parents and senior travellers
Easy transfers to and in South Goa
- Hire a car and driver for day trips to Galgibag or distant beaches. A driver is also useful if mobility is limited; roads are not always smooth.
- Medical care in Colva and Margao is reasonable; pharmacies are easy to find. Larger hospitals are in Margao. Note the location before you start sightseeing.
- The monsoon (June to September) brings heavy rain, muddy roads and occasional flooding. Avoid unless you love the green and rain, or book a sturdy hotel with good drainage.
- Ask the airline or railway for wheelchair or porter assistance when you book, not on the day.
- Pre-book the pickup from the airport or station, so nobody has to negotiate with drivers after a long journey.
- Choose arrivals in daylight where you can, and keep the first afternoon free to rest.
