- A private car and driver is best for comfort and for the outlying temples and Haldi Ghati. Autos and cabs work for the city centre and bazaars. The city is small enough to walk between the lake and old city, though the bazaar lanes are narrow and hilly.

Easy transfers to and in Udaipur
- The old city bazaar lanes are steep and narrow; if mobility is a concern, base yourself north of the old city, near Fateh Sagar, and take a car or auto to sights.
- Hire a car and driver for the day if you want to visit Haldi Ghati or Ahar Cenotaphs. The drive is scenic and the driver can choose rest stops.
- Ask the airline or railway for wheelchair or porter assistance when you book, not on the day.
- Pre-book the pickup from the airport or station, so nobody has to negotiate with drivers after a long journey.
- Choose arrivals in daylight where you can, and keep the first afternoon free to rest.
