Easy transfers to and in Kasol

  • Manikaran visit: the walk from Kasol is uphill and takes 45–60 minutes; alternatively, arrange a car from a guesthouse. The temples themselves are on level ground and accessible, but dress modestly and remove shoes at the temple entrances (keep socks for marble floors in sun or cold).
  • Accommodation is basic: most guesthouses are budget-oriented with simple bathrooms and limited heating. Carry a warm layer, even in warm months, as evenings are cool at this altitude.
  • Trekking is the main activity: if you plan multi-day treks (Kheerganga, Malana), start with shorter walks first to gauge your fitness, or hire a porter to ease the load.
  • Ask the airline or railway for wheelchair or porter assistance when you book, not on the day.
  • Pre-book the pickup from the airport or station, so nobody has to negotiate with drivers after a long journey.
  • Choose arrivals in daylight where you can, and keep the first afternoon free to rest.
