    Grahan Village

    A remote village at about 2,350 m on a forest trail south-east of Kasol, reached only on foot. The walk is about 10 km and takes around 5 hours; there is no road, no ATM and little mobile signal.

  3. 03

    Kalga Village

    A small village of apple orchards and guesthouses on the hillside above Barshaini, at the head of the Parvati valley road, about 16 km beyond Kasol. It is on one of the paths to Kheerganga.

    Pulga Village

    A small village above Barshaini at the head of the Parvati valley road, known for the Fairy Forest of old deodars above it. Quieter than Kasol, and close to Kalga.

    September to October and April to May for pleasant walking; the path is river-level and shaded

    Tosh Village

    An end-of-the-road village at the valley's upper reach, reached by road to Barshaini and a steep final climb. Known for laid-back guesthouses, strong community atmosphere and gateway trekking.

  1. 06

    Bhuntar Town

    A junction town at the confluence of the Parvati and Beas rivers, roughly 25 km south of Kasol. It serves as the road gateway to the Parvati valley and a hub for jeep connections.

    Anytime; it is a transit hub, so weather and seasons matter less
    Tickets
    No entry fee. Jeep and shared taxi fares to Kasol are negotiable; expect 300–400 rupees per seat or 1,500–2,000 for a private jeep.

  2. 07

    Kasol Suspension Bridge

    The iconic footbridge linking Kasol Bazaar to Chalal village across the Parvati River. It is a small engineering achievement and a memorable crossing for first-time visitors.

  3. 08

    Manikaran Hot Springs

    Natural hot springs (locally called Garam Pani) about 4 kilometres upstream (east) of Kasol, with water hot enough to cook potatoes. A pilgrimage site, a bathing spot and a base for further walks up the valley.

    2–3 hours roundtrip from Kasol, including the walk and time at the springs

    September to March for comfortable walking and fewer crowds; the springs flow year-round at roughly 54 degrees Celsius
    Tickets

    Parvati River

    The river that shapes Kasol's geography, flowing through the narrow valley in milky jade-green water. You see it constantly from trails and the bazaar, but stopping by the river itself is a different experience.

    Kheerganga

    A meadow at about 2,950 m with a hot spring and a small Shiva shrine, reached by a trek of roughly 9–12 km from Barshaini at the road head of the Parvati valley, itself about an hour's drive beyond Kasol.

    Best as an overnight trip; 4–6 hours up and 3–4 hours down from Barshaini

    September to October and April to May, when the meadow is clear and the path is dry; avoid June to August monsoon season

  2. 11

    Malana Village

    An isolated village on a side valley of the Parvati, notable for its unique dialect and reputation for independence from mainstream Indian politics. The landscape is dramatic, and the village itself is closed to visitors inside, but the walk there is rewarding.

    Rudranag Lake Trek

    A high-altitude trek from Kasol to a remote alpine lake, passing through forests and meadows. It is a full day outing for steady walkers.

  4. 13

    Sar Pass Trek

    A challenging multi-day trek from Kasol over a high Himalayan pass, descending to Biskeri Thach village. It is a serious uphill climb, rewarding for fit walkers.

    Krishna Temple, Manikaran

    The more ornate of Manikaran's Hindu temples, dedicated to Lord Krishna. It sits among the hot springs and is more visited than the Ram Temple.

    Ram Temple, Manikaran

    A dedicated temple to Lord Rama at Manikaran, standing above the hot springs. Less ornate than the Krishna temple nearby, it is a working place of worship with regular visitors.

    Sri Gurdwara Manikaran

    The Sikh gurdwara at Manikaran, with a large covered bathing pool fed by hot springs. Open to people of all faiths, it is often quieter than the Hindu temples and offers a different atmosphere.
