Sariputta Stupa
Also called Temple 3 or the Great Stupa, the Sariputta Stupa is a brick pyramid at Nalanda Mahavihara traditionally linked to Buddha's chief disciple Sariputta. The staircase is well preserved and the surrounding votive stupas are vivid archaeological finds.

Surajpur Baragaon Sun Temple
A working Hindu temple to the sun god Surya in Baragaon village, about a kilometre from the Nalanda ruins, beside a pond that draws large Chhath Puja crowds twice a year. A living contrast to the archaeology next door.

Pawapuri
A Jain pilgrimage town about 40–50 km from Nalanda, where the Jal Mandir stands in the middle of a lotus-filled tank on the spot where Mahavira, the 24th Tirthankara, was cremated after attaining nirvana. A quieter half-day alternative or addition to Rajgir.

A historic pilgrimage town about 60 km from Nalanda, ringed by five hills, where the Buddha spent time and taught. Griddhakuta (Vulture Peak) and the Venuvana bamboo grove are its best-known sites. Rajgir has its own full destination guide on Raahzo; this entry covers it only as a day trip from Nalanda.

A modern deemed university founded in 1951 to revive Nalanda's tradition of Pali and Buddhist studies, built on the southern bank of the historic Indrapuskarini lake facing the ancient ruins. Its campus also hosts the Xuanzang Memorial.
